So I posted earlier that I joined a Mystery Quilt online group earlier in the month and so on every friday Heather emails us a clue. I have 3 clues finished now. I am doing 2 quilts on is for charity and the other one will be in the new house when we move in next weekend....

This is the first mystery, the fabric is Terrain by Kate Spain.. I love these colors.

This one is the second mystery and the fabric is hometown by Sweetwater... I really like these colors too... I am going to have a hard time deciding which one is going to goto charity when they are finished.

Back again

Well, I will apologize again for being gone so long, It's been a bit crazy. To start off I have moved from Anchorage down to living in Moose Pass, it's a nice quiet little town, and I am really enjoying life down here. The house I have moved into is a lot smaller but it's just me and the animals all summer so it really is fine and the price is right. The down side is that I don't really have a dedicated room now for quilting, I have my long arm in the living room but it fits perfect there, I am blogging from my iPad right now since there is no Internet connection yet!

I do have to say that now that I am getting settled I have been able to get back into the swing of things and really get some quilting done! Here are some pictures of some of the client quilts that I have finished down here. I am going to try to figure out how to post pics in the blog so you can see what I have been working on. Between work and quilting I have been pretty busy but having fun too!

UFO Challenge 2011 Update

So UFO Challenge 2011 is off to a good start,
This is what project number 6 looked like on Sunday when I opened the bag!
As of today I have 1 border left to put on it then I can squeeze it onto the quilting table and get it finished.

On Saturday I taught 2 teens how to sew, while I was working on a yellow brick road quilt so they made one along with me, I let them pull the fabric from my stash so this is how I got the numbers up there.

2011 UFO Challenge!

Judy over at Patchwork Times is doing a Year long UFO Challenge and I have decided to participate. I know I have more then 12 UFO's but I think this will be a good start to getting some accomplished. Here is a pic of all 12 UFO's

Well got some quilts finished this weekend

My french braid from a class a couple years ago got some snowflakes, We are working on the binding now

This is a picture of the snowflakes on the top in the braid part of the quilt.

This is the quilt on the table being quilted

and here is a view of the backing and the little snowflakes that are going in between the rows.

So another quilt I got finished this weekend was Kim's Racecar quilt for her grandson.

And for the Finale I finished my Tree Skirt, This was a class I took last year and finally got it quilted and the binding all finished.

I have 6 more client quilts to get done before Christmas, I will get another loaded tonight after work and then hopefully work on some more quilts of my own. I would love more client quilts to come in too!

Welcome Back to Quilting!

Well after a busy summer of the quilting table being working and not working and working then now and 3 new motherboards later, I am back up and quilting. I did have a pretty good summer.. Lots of Halibut fishing and clam digging and camping, and a whole lot of relaxing to get me ready for the quilting system to be working again. So this weekend was very productive and I have some great pics to share with you from my summer. so here we go!

Another Top almost finished

Well if you read the last post you know that I was working with a jelly roll... I went down to Seward to sew with my friends again this weekend and here is what I got done.. Just needs the last pieced border and it will be finished.

After I get the border done on this one I am going to be starting the Wild Thing pattern. More to come later.. Off to the dentist!

Design Wall Monday

On my design wall today is a new quilt... I am cutting the fabric from 2 jelly rolls at work today. Then when I get home I will start sewing This together. I have been wanting to make this one since it came out. Just havent had a chance too. I found my jelly roll for it and I cant wait to get it started today.

Here is my stash report. I had to go buy a Jelly roll to finish this quilt and when I saw the other jelly roll I just had to have it.... But I did use the one jelly roll and I am planning on using the other one this week. I finished Ryan's Quilt this week and I made the "I'm Blushing" quilt off the Moda Bake shop Website. Love it.. I started it Saturday around 4 and finished it last night around 8pm... It went together really easy.

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

Ok I am slowly working on getting into the christmas spirit. I accomplished half my goals for yesterday. I did get T's other snowman quilt done. and I finished my monthly mini quilt for my office.

I have plenty left to do. I loaded the neighbors quilt on the table last night and will get it quilted tonight. I am going to finish my table runner for my Sew Happy and the Strippers Table runner swap. I am sure it is going to be beautiful... So far its turning out pretty nice. I will post a pic once its finished.
Hunny and little man are down at the mining claim. They are talking about hoping on a friends boat and going hunting on Tuesday. would be nice to have some wild game in the freezer!
I have a couple more things to get done for my Secret Elf Swap and will get that out in the mail on the 10th... Wohoo!!!
I have my todo list and am hoping to get alot of that finished this week too. Big Boy called from Beluga last night and asked if I would make him a quilt for his bed out at the lodge so I am hoping to get something boyish wildernessy done for him for christmas too, any good ideas... I have a couple jelly rolls that I would like to use for it... Or mabey some flannel.
Post me some links of some ideas for a nice easy jelly roll quilt for my son and I am thinking I might turn this into a giveaway! I guess I will have to find something to give away first.. mabey a jelly roll or a honey bun!!!

What's going on

Sorry for being out of the loop for a bit... I have been sewing alot and getting my quilting table back up and running.

After a month of sending things back and forth to PCQ and 2 new motherboards later my quilting table is finally back up and running... I am pretty excited, I got 2 quilts done this weekend, I will post pics of them tomorrow.

So what have I been up to while the table was down?
Well I got alot of quilt tops done, went on a couple retreats and hung out with my family and relaxed!
here are some pics.

Here is a small picture of the Figgy Pudding Quilt I got finished when I was down at the Saltwater Lodge in Seward

On my way home from the lodge I stopped at the Quilt shop in Cooper Landing and picked up this kit and got it finished. I love the colors, It turned out great!

And I finished all the hand applique on the Blooms for Annebelle Quilt

While down at the Saltwater Lodge our sewing group "The Strippers" got this kit from the "Sew Happy's" group. I love it so much and I got it all put together in a matter of hours... very easy and very nice, it will go perfect in my house.

So as I was saying above a group of us stayed in a cabin in Cooper Landing and went to a Mystery Class put on by Bearly Threaded Quilt shop This is the quilt I finished that weekend. It was easy nice and alot of great food. We sewed at the local school in their big gym. will post more pics of this excursion soon. We are planning on going back down there in December for a UFO Weekend.

I am working on getting into the christmas spirit, I made a tree skirt at a class down in seward. I just need to quilt it so it can go under the tree, I will try to post pics of that tomorrow too.

My Weekend and Upcoming Week

This last weekend was spent out at the Cottage in Lowell Point. Kathleen the owner of Saltwater Lodge is doing a quilting retreat out there and as some of her friends we are going out a little early to retreat a little more. I have been out there since Friday night I had to come back Monday night so I could do Payroll at work then Its back on the road to go back down to the cottage... It has been beautiful, We have had a baby Stellar Jay visit us

And right out back we had 2 Eagles sitting in the tree above us. Hope you can see them in the pic, They are there up by the top on the right of the pic.

This is the view from our front deck. That is the Saltwater Lodge right across the street, We go over there in the mornings for a wonderful breakfast and to watch the otters and other sealife, The beach is right in front of the Lodge

This is our sewing machines all set up Mom is over there sewing in the pic. its a wonderful peaceful place to relax and sew and that is where I will be till next Sunday. If you need me please leave a message I will have my laptop so I hope to post some about the quilting retreat while I am out there.

I spent last week canning Blackberry and Raspberry Jam!!!

I had to make some fresh bread to go with it and try it all out... Yummy!!!

I picked up Drama Queen from the airport yesterday, She spent the whole summer at her grandparents house in Maine, I know she is glad to be home but misses them too.
So we are going to venture out to the mining claim this weekend and find a little gold and relax a little too. I am bringing this to work on....

Socks I am knitting!

Judy over at Patchwork Times is having a sock yarn giveaway So I am showing off my socks in progress...
this one is going to be a pair for my mom.. she picked out the yarn and its not really what I knit with but she liked it so I am making them for her. The yarn is toufotsie and its coming together pretty fast. I just turned the heel so no more pics of it yet but hopefully I can get them done soon.
I started 2 new BOM programs the other day... The first one is the Vintage Christmas by bunny hill designs Ordered thru The Fat Quarter Shop I am very impressed with this, I recieved the first month block on Monday and its been so easy to applique together.
The Second BOM program that I am doing is by Cinderberry Stitches Tail Feathers Thru Treasured Threads, not so much impressed with this... I love the pattern and Cant wait to make it but I figured when you pay to do a Block of the month they send you the fabric and such to do it. Well I guess I read something wrong there cause all I got was the pattern so after work tonight I will go and hunt down the supplies to make this cute quilt too. I will not let that discourage me.
Well enough of that rant. I am going to do some work and then work on my applique

What I am working on

Well I am going to try to blog more then I have been but I decided tuesday night to step out of my box and make a coin quilt with colors that I like but not really that I would normally use... So I pulled out a jelly roll and started sewing. I think i am about 3/4 of the way done now and its looking pretty cool so far. What do you think......
I have also joined a couple BOM's I am really excited about them one is the Vintage Christmas from Bunny Hill and the other one is Tail Feathers from Cinderberry Stitches
These are both beautiful quilts and I really excited to make them.

Whats Going On!

Well I am back from my trip out to Fox Island, It was beautiful even though it was sprinkling all weekend. We saw this cute little Sea Otter on our way out to the island.

This is the view of the beach our cabin was tucked into the woods right off the beach. very peaceful and relaxing.

This was the little man mom built on the beach after our wonderful dinner I will tell you about.

So here is the whole fox island story.... We got on the boat at 11am and traveled out to the island which is about an hour ride on the boat. We went in and had a yummy prime rib and crab legs lunch, then I walked around on the beach for a bit. The people that were not staying the night got back on the boat and continued their tour of resurection bay while mom and I and 5 other groups stayed on the island. Mom had to work in the gift shop for a while so I walked along the beach for a bit then went to our cabin and knitted for a bit. Then we all met up for a wonderful 5 star dinner. Our Chef made us a yummy horsradish,panko crusted Halibut that was so yummy and when it was time for desert I was shocked to see he had made me a special treat. My mom let him know I was allergic to Chocolate so when they brought out the Chocolate Moouse they brought me a yummy Creme Brulle. The wine was great and so was the breakfast that they made us the next morning... The rest of the group caught the boat and went on a long glacier cruise and mom and I caught the shuttle back to Seward. We went to the local quilt shop and then I headed out to the mining claim for the night....When I got home sunday I finished the Blooms for Annebell top and now I am working on the applique part of it and put on the borders then it will be ready for quilting.. here is the pic of my progress

I was pretty tired when I got off work last night so I didnt work on the applique. I figured if I sat there and did hand work I would fall asleep so I started my version of a coin quilt. I am about 3/4 finished with it already. I will post pics of it tomorrow. I am looking forward to relaxing this weekend. It seems all I have been doing for the past month is driving everywhere and I am ready to just relax.

Ok so have been a little busy and have been away pretty much every weekend since summer hit... i finished my spring bloomin mini quilt and got that in the mail... I also recieved mine but forgot to take pics. I will do that tomorrow when i go to work. I hung it up in my office... here are the pics of the one I sent.

Well the 12 yr old dramaqueen caught a plane and flew off to Maine for the summer to visit her grandparents. I know she was excited to go and I will really miss having her around, I have a big list of things I need to get done before she gets home in august so its going to be a busy busy summer.

to start I am getting my list together for things I would like to get accomplished this week before hunny gets home on tuesday...

*make and quilt totem pole quilt(cutting out the applique tonight)
*load and quilt bears quilt
*load and quilt squares quilt
*work on bay windows quilt
if there is time
*load and quilt T's Snowman quilt
*load and quilt T's bright quilt
I think i should have enough time to get all this done and hopefully get the house deep cleaned, I am going to focus on one room a day that way I have time to sew too.
I got the entry way and stairs all done today. I really feel like I have accomplished so much already.

Long weekend accomplishments

Wow it has been a wonderful long weekend, the weather has been nice and hot for Alaska, around 70-75 degrees during the day we are up to over 18 hours of sunlight so it really makes the days longer which means I get more done and less sleep..
I did get 4 quilts finished this weekend the 2 teapot quilts of Ann's(sorry forgot to get pics of those but they turned out so nice) and then the buggy barn squares of Ann's

Once that one was finished I loaded the Apple quilt of T's I love the apple design that i put on it.

Here is the project on my design wall(well not yet on the design wall but getting close to laying it out and sewing it together, Judy is doing a "whats on your design wall" thing on her blog and I have decided to participate in this in hopes that it will help me get some of my UFO's accomplished I know I have alot of them and I have also decided that I am not buying any more projects till I finish some of them that are in the works... (hehe lets see how well that works...lol)
This is the start of my Basket Case quilt, I am using the Fig and Plum jelly rolls in this one and love the colors. I am hoping to be able to post the finished top by next monday..

My plans on this long weekend

So I have been so busy there has not been much time to post or sew... Last weekend I was invited back to the lodge to sew for another weekend with the mom's but life happens, I was at my hunny's house which is a couple miles away from my parents house visiting and I got the call from mom... Seems my nephew was injured in a soccer game and we needed to head up to anchorage where he would be placed in the ICU!!! So after the 1 - 1/2 hour drive down to my parents place I had to do the same drive back up to my place to the hospital... So no sewing weekend. I finally got them all back home and comfortable on Tuesday... I have spent the week working on the teapot quilts for Ann, I will have the last one finished tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can hit the road back down to the lodge in seward again.. I am really looking forward to the long weekend of me sewing and relaxing.

Ohhh big buisness works going on soon too. I will update you once its all ready to go live.

I have some ideas and plans for the spring blooms swap that I am apart of... I figured that it really needs to have an alaska theme to is since it is coming from alaska and the quilt shops just started carrying the wonderfull fireweed fabric so thats my start and my inspiration for this one. I will have the top done hopefully this weekend and get it quilted during the next week... Im pretty excited and hope my swap partner likes it too.

Wonderful Weekend and more to come

Well we had the most wonderful weekend with our mothers... We did a mystery quilt class for them and when it was time to show the quilts they were given to our mothers as their gifts. They were very shocked and excited. On sunday I left the retreat and headed back to anchorage, on my way I stopped out at my hunny's where we had a bbq with his mother and some friends. When I got home Allie had cleaned the whole house. It was so wonderfull!!! Cant wait to spend some more time with my hunny.

I will be heading down there again this coming up weekend
Tonight I am going to relax and recouperate on the couch a little and also try and get a quilt loaded onto the table tonight.

What am I Quilting Today?

Well I loaded Julie's Quilt on the table last night and decided to get sewing on it tonight. I am making pretty good progress I think it will be done Saturday Afternoon. Here are a couple pics of the blocks so far...

The next row of blocks that I quilt tomorrow will be solid black blocks like the edges so the quilting should really stand out on those. I am really liking how the quilting is going on this so far.

So after a nice relaxing weekend out at K and G's house in Willow. I got home and got back to work after a day with a migrane. But I did finish a couple things...
K and I finished 2 quilt samples that will be shown as a mystery for our upcoming retreat with the Mom's and I also finished Allies quilt. I know its about time huh!!!

Well reality has hit me hard today.. Didnt think that I really was that old but my son is 18 today. It has been some fun and challenging years but we did it!!! here are some pics of growing up along the way. Happy Birthday Son may all your dreams come true!!! I love you!!!

Happy Easter Quilty Weekend

Happy Easter everyone.... I had a great quilty weekend. Mom,I and about 7 other ladies got together here at the Tern Lake Inn for a wonderful weekend of sewing and chatting. The place is beautiful and I cant wait to go back and sew there again. The owners are so inviting and such great cooks too. I got a few pics but they are on mom's camera so I will have to wait to post those but this was the room I stayed in for the weekend....

Isn't it beautiful and so relaxing out there. I will be meeting up tonight for the first time with a sewing group I found in Anchorage, I cant wait. I really need some sewing buddies to play with.
I have a couple quilts that I need to get done so I am going to load one on tonight after work and get some of it done before I head to sewing.
We had a great easter dinner over at France's and Aden just loved the cute tonka truck basket the easter bunny dropped off for him.
Allie is doing great she had a wonderful weekend too. I think she might even sew with out group tonight. I hope so. It would be nice to get her back sewing with me again. Well Happy Monday everyone.. I have to get back to work.

Making Progress

Ok after a long day at work, I came home and finish up some of the cleaning and rearranging of my quilting studio... here are some updated picture.

Disclaimer: This is just what I have accomplished so far.. There is plenty more to do...

This is half of the garage. You can scroll down to the previous post and see that the cutting table and the guest table were in a diffrent area. I cleaned and rearranged and opened up the room alot.

This is my cutting table with storage underneath it. The boxes have scraps in them for paperpiecing projects.

Quilting Challenge 101

OK this is a bit embarrasing but I have decided to join in the Pat Sloan Quilting group on Facebook... We are doing an Organizing Challenge so here I go.... The before pictures of my quilting studio. I will post my progress as I go
Here is my list of things I need to do to get organized... Feel free to comment and add some ideas if you think I have missed something in my list.

color code fabric stash and place in correct bins
organize and list all UFO's
make UFO goal list deadlines
go thru and organize pattern books
place all tools in the places that are used the most.
Hang batting roll up for easy access to cutting table
organize and store unused yarn and knitting patterns.

Here is my cutting table and my messy guest sewing area. Haven't really decided where to put the Accuquilt system yet so it sits on the guest sewing area.

here is my fabric stash bins... I got the bins from a gift shop that was remodeling and they were going to throw them away....

Its been a while

Sorry for being gone so long. I have been very busy. I am almost finished with the 18 quilts for the elementary school that I have been working on... 2 left!!! 18 in one month thats alot of quilting. Here is a picture of what a couple of them look like. They are all done by the classes at the school and will be put up on the wall in the lunch room on display for the schools 50th anniversary

There are 18 of these all together.
As those were quilting out I had the chance to start and finish some quilts of my own.
This one has the borders on it now and is a lap size now too. But it is made for my BFF for her first grandchild that is due in June.

I cut all of these quilts out with my new AccuQuilt system. I am so happy I ordered this product. I really like being able to cut a bunch of fabric all at the same time.
Here is a pic of the "Wishing for Spring" quilt that I started yesterday.

I saw a picture of this quilt on another bloggers site and decided to make it. So I pulled out my batiks and my accuquilt and started cutting. Its very easy and goes together pretty fast. While I was working on that this is what was falling outside. No thats not snow...... Is ASH from the Mt. Redoubt eruption...

the ash gave me a good excuse to stay inside and just sew and quilt......

Finished Stuff

Ok so I finished the second Texas Flag quilt for my boss last week and then decided to take a couple days off of sewing. But I got back at it on Wednesday and finished this brown one for A. the pattern that was quilted on it is called Almost Paisley and I used a brown and tan varigated thread.

Ok as most will see the pictures that I post are really not in the order that I quilt them. They are in the order that I decide that I want to post a pic and find a quilt pic off my camera to talk about. But I love this pattern and hope I can get the name of it from T soon. This is a quilt she made for a friend she works with that has colon cancer. It turned out really pretty and I love the colors. I quilted it with a cancer ribbon and a tan and brown varigated thread.

Orange Quilt

I love the colors in this quilt. I am not really one to like bright colors but this really looks retro and I have fallen in love with the quilt that T has made. So I finished this up last night. I quilted oranges and slices on it with a orange creamcicle type of varigated thread. I hope she likes it as much as I do

Another Quilt finished

I loaded this quilt for A and got it all quilted, I love the colors perfect for my DD bedroom. Wishin it was mine but I think I might make a buggy barn quilt like this one soon... After I finishe all the quilts my boss wants me to make.

I only have 6 more log cabin squares to make and the blocks are all finishes and I can put it all together and get it on the quiting frame. T is going to do the binding for me so I hope to have it quilted by the end of the weekend so I can give her time to get it done since my boss wants it on the 21st.

So here are a couple pics of A's quilt she made. The pattern I quilted on it is called 30's Flowers and i used a light pink thread.

Back again

It has been so busy with work and quilting I havent had time to check in, But here goes, I have quilted a whole bunch of quilts so I will go thru my camera this weekend and post some update pics for everyone soon. I do have 1 pic on this computer that I can post for you. It is a quilt that I made for the school for their fundraiser at christmas time. It was a fast and easy one that really turned out pretty. Its the yellow brick road pattern in christmas fabric and I quilted ornaments all over it.I used a gold thread on the top to really make it stand out. Hope you like it.

Progress

So I have been making some progress, I have actully been getting alot of quilts finished I just keep forgetting to take pictures and post them, But here are a couple more that I have finished.

I did get a chance to play a bit this weekend too......Catrena came over and spent most of sunday at the house with me and we made some bags for our stuff, you can never have to many bags hehe, I have been using this one since.......

This is the front of the bag, Its pretty flashy and bright but it looks good, I really liked the fact that you can use charm squares for it so really not as much cutting involved.

I was pretty shocked Friday when I got to work. My boss that I had made the Texas Flag quilt asked me if I would make him another one for his spare bedroom.... Wow I was shocked, I have been so worried that he didnt like it but he loved it so much he wanted to pay me to make him another one that matches.... So I know what project I will be working on for a bit.. Kind of a bummer since the weather is so beautiful all I want to do is play outside, We are in the mid 50's during the day right now I think its going to be a great summer, We are off to a great start so far.

Finished Finished

So I have been forgetting to take pictures of some of the quilts that I have been finishing so I decided to take some today and post about them. I have more to come but I will save those for another post. Mabey tomorrow. This first one is a commision quilt for my boss. He asked for a Texas Flag so I made one. This is a log cabin pattern and that was the easy part, the hardest was the 1 inch thick batting that he wanted in it, well actully he wanted it more like 3-5 inches thick but I really couldnt fit that into my quilting machine. I quilted cowboy hats and boots all over it with red white and blue thread on the front and used a red varigated thread on the back with a red flannel on the back.

This next one was quilted for my sister, She sent me 4 quilts to do 2 of them for charity and I got them done so fast I forgot to take pictures of them but I got this one that she made for her soon to be husband's grandfather. Here is a close up of the quilting that I did on it,
I finished another one last night but I will have to post pics of it tomorrow since I finished late and just went to bed and left it still pinned to the table.

Busy Busy Busy

Well It has been a busy 2 weeks. Lets start out with my son M Graduated from the Alaska Military Youth Academy. I am so so so proud of him. It has been great having him home. He is so motivated, He graduated on a Saturday and Has a Job on Monday. He has only been late 1 time and that was the time change thing. but he loves his job and has ambition in life.

Ok now for the fun stuff, On Wednesday the 5th I packed up my sewing machine and some UFO's and Headed down to Homer for a long weekend retreat. We had such a blast and I actully got a couple UFO's finished. I will have to post pics later as the usb on this computer has died so I have to upload the pics at work. I got home on Monday night and rested on Tuesday I loaded a quilt and got that one finished and on Saturday I got another 1 finished. I brought home a bunch of quilts to finish and have picked up several more this week. I just wanted to take a break and talk about how wonderful Homer was. It was nice not having to cook or clean or make my bed and we were so spoiled down there too.

Kyle was wonderfull he took care of the kids and let me relax and not stress about them. I am so thankful for that time to myself to do whatever I want. I know my Mom had a great time too. I picked her up on my was down to homer and we had a great time together this was our 4th time doing this retreat together and will not be the last.

Well I am going to get back to pinning the batik circles quilt onto the leaders.

Back from Quilting dream world.

Ok Im back from the depths of the dungeon that I call my quilting studio. I got a new toy for my quilting table in October and have found my self pretty busy with client quilts since then. I will post some pics in a bit but I just wanted to let you all know if anyone actully reads this that I am back and I will be better about blogging. Hopefully on a daily basis.
